Frank Clark Background

Frank Dominick Clark was born June 14, 1993, in Bakersfield California. Clark, a former student of Glenville High School in Cleveland, showcased his versatility on the field, occupying various positions with safety being his favorite. However, his coach believed he was better suited for roles like outside linebacker or defensive end. During his senior year, he recorded 70 tackles and 19 sacks in addition to scoring three touchdowns on offense.

Clark was an outstanding athlete, he also starred on the school track team running a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash. He was a three-star recruit going into college at outside linebacker, defensive end, and tight end. He eventually committed to Michigan.

In his freshman year, Clark’s interception set up a touchdown for the Wolverines as they beat Virginia Teach in the 2012 Sugar Bowl.

Unfortunately, Frank was suspended the following offseason for committing a felony of second-degree home invasion. He pleaded guilty and was subject to a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $3000 fine. Due to the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, his record could be expunged upon satisfactory probation, so Clark was let off the hook.

In his four years at Michigan, Clark recorded 66 total tackles and 11 sacks, and earned a second-team All-Big 10 selection in 2013. Clark’s college career had a sour ending as he was dismissed from the team in 2014 as he was arrested for domestic violence.

Frank Clark’s NFL Career So Far

Drafted as the 63rd overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks, he spent his rookie season as a backup. He averaged just 18 snaps per game and finished the season with 16 total tackles and three sacks and one forced fumble.

The 2016 season saw Clark feature a lot more, his snap count almost doubled. He ended the season with 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and a career high 47 total tackles whilst helping the Seahawks reach the Divisional Playoff round for the fifth year in a row.

By the 2017 season, Clark’s third year in the NFL, it was clear that he was getting better with every snap. He recorded 32 total tackles, two forced fumbles and nine sacks. His fourth year in Seattle saw more of the same production from Clark. He recorded a career high in sacks and forced fumbles with 14 sacks and four forced fumbles. His 42 total tackles capped off a terrific season for Clark and led to the Seahawks franchise tagging him.

A month after the Seahawks franchise tagged Clark, he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs with a 2019 3rd round selection in exchange for the Chiefs 1st and 3rd round draft selections and a conditional 2nd round selection in the 2020 draft. A big haul for Clark but he was Super Bowl caliber winning player. Clark signed a five-year, $105.5 million dollar deal.

In his first year with the Chiefs, Clark showed he was every bit worth the money. He recorded eight sacks, 37 tackles and three forced fumbles. The significance of his sacks was huge. In the Divisional round of the playoffs, Clark sacked Texans QB Deshawn Watson three times, in the AFC Championship game, he got the game ending sack on Ryan Tannehill and in Super Bowl LIV he recorded a fourth down sack in the fourth quarter that helped the Chiefs ice the game and win 31-20. Mahomes will get the plaudits, but Clark’s contribution in the playoffs can’t be ignored. This was Clark’s first Pro-bowl selection.

Clark helped the Chiefs return to the Super Bowl in 2020 as they took on Tom Brady and the Bucs. Unfortunately, Clark’s sack on Brady wasn’t enough to deter destiny as the Chiefs lost to the Bucs. He finished the regular season with 29 tackles and six sacks and earned himself another Pro-bowl selection.

2021 saw Clark earn his third Pro Bowl selection as he finished the season with 22 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was unable to help the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl for the third consecutive year as they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game.

Clark and the Chiefs would get their revenge the following year as they met the Bengals once again in the AFC Championship game. This time, they were victorious, and advanced on to another Super Bowl appearance. They beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35; and Clark had earned his second Super Bowl in just four years.

Frank Clark’s 2023-2024 Season Forecast

Carter joined the Broncos in the offseason. In Week 1 he only registered two tackles as Broncos narrowly lost to the Raiders. He’s spent the remainder of the 2023 season so far suffering from a hip injury and a tear in his groin and abductor, suffered in training before the Broncos Week 2 matchup.

The former Super Bowl Champion will desperately be needed back by a Broncos team that are struggling on defense.
